New and improved bus routes make Oakland commuting easier

Direct park-and-ride bus service is expanding in the North Hills, Airport Corridor, South Side Works, and East Busway areas. Expanded service benefits Oakland-area commuters, as well as other UPMC staff, patients, and visitors with appointments or meetings in Oakland.

  • The new 13U North Hills-Oakland Express will provide five weekday inbound and outbound trips from Showcase Cinemas North Park-and-Ride on McKnight Road in McCandless Township to Oakland. Morning service drops off along Forbes Avenue from Craft to Morewood avenues in Oakland. Evening service begins on Forbes Avenue at Morewood Avenue and picks up along Forbes Avenue to Bellefield Avenue and along Fifth Avenue to Craft Avenue, serving all Oakland institutions.

  • The 28K Moon Express is doubling Oakland service to four weekday rush-hour trips in each direction from University Park-and-Ride on University Boulevard in Moon Township to Fifth Avenue from Neville Street to Craft Avenue in Oakland.

  • All trips on the 59U Oakland-Waterfront will now be extended to and from South Side Works. This route has been designated a “bike rack route,” with bicycle racks available on all buses. Two evening trips also have been added.

  • The EBO East Busway-Oakland has added three new morning trips and one evening trip, and some times have been changed. EBO serves three East Busway park-and-rides: Wilkinsburg Station (Penn Avenue at Pitt Street), Hamnett Station (Center Street, Wilkinsburg), and Swissvale Station (Braddock and Woodstock avenues).

  • Additional afternoon trips on the 28X Airport Flyer will utilize 40-foot transit buses instead of minibuses.
The Port Authority of Allegheny County has posted a new “Way to Go Pittsburgh-Oakland” bus schedule online at www.portauthority.org.
