Imagine UPMC in the skyline

An architect's rendering of the proposed UPMC logo atop the U.S. Steel Tower.

The proposed UPMC logo atop the downtown U.S. Steel Tower, as depicted in thie architect's rendering at the right, will be a visible indication of Pittsburgh’s re-emergence as a national and international leader. No longer reliant on the steel industry, Pittsburgh’s new renaissance is built on science, medicine, and technology. The move of UPMC’s corporate headquarters to U.S. Steel also reflects the organization’s commitment to Pittsburgh and to the revitalization of downtown.

Throughout the signage review process, UPMC has been sensitive to community concerns and to the aesthetics of the building. This will be reflected in the size, lighting, and placement of the signage. The sign will cover only half the area that is permissible under the city code and will be placed on all three sides of the building. It is expected to be in place by early 2008.
