Back to the South Side

UPMC Distribution Facility returns to former location

The UPMC Distribution Facility is preparing to move from Lawrenceville back to its former South Side location. The return to the South Side will enable Supply Chain Management (SCM) to gain increased inventory capacity to serve UPMC hospitals.

The distribution facility moved from the South Side to Lawrenceville in 2003 due to structural issues at the South Side warehouse. Since then, significant renovations have been completed at the South Side location, making it available to serve again as the hub of UPMC’s warehousing and distribution activities.

Barring any construction delays, the move will take place Friday, Jan. 23, and Saturday, Jan. 24. There will be no deliveries from the warehouse during this time. The final day for operations at Lawrenceville is set for Thursday, Jan. 22, and deliveries will resume from the South Side on Sunday, Jan. 25. SCM Hospital Operations is working with each facility’s on-site Materials Management staff to ensure adequate supplies are on hand and to make this transition as seamless as possible.

The South Side Distribution Facility will house the UPMC warehouse, inventory team, and SCM Hospital Operations group, which moved to the South Side on Jan. 5. In addition to being more centrally located, the new location features wireless capabilities and offers office and conference space. The new address for the South Side facility is:

UPMC Distribution Facility
3175 E. Carson Street
Pittsburgh, PA 15203
