2010 Take a Healthy Step campaign kicks off

Start now, earn points, and have a chance to win cash rewards

Since its inception, the MyHealth partnership — among staff members, UPMC, and UPMC Health Plan — has introduced programs, tools, and initiatives to improve our health, giving us the opportunity to lead a healthy lifestyle every day. By learning to incorporate these healthy habits into our daily routines, we are able to slow the rising costs of health care and enable UPMC to continue to provide its employees with medical coverage that is affordable and an excellent value.

New and improved

In 2010, more flexibility will be introduced into the UPMC MyHealth program. The program also will be enhanced with some additional cash incentives for those who complete the MyHealth deductible requirements and additional steps early in the year!

The concept is simple. To earn your 2010 MyHealth deductible credit, participants must accumulate 300 points by Friday, Nov. 13. Points will be earned by completing various Healthy Steps. While there are three required steps, how you complete the third step is your choice, provided you obtain 100 points. Here are the three steps you need to complete by Friday, Nov. 13:

  1. Acknowledgement of the Wellness Pledge and completion or updating of your MyHealth Questionnaire (required step worth 100 points).
  2. Completion of a biometric screening between September 1, 2004, and November 13, 2009 (required step worth 100 points).
  3. Completion of one or more Healthy Steps* that add up to at least 100 additional points.

Thanks to the new point system, participants are able to track their progress quickly and easily via the MyHealth website and are given the flexibility to choose the steps they take from a variety of categories.

It pays to start early

Completing your MyHealth requirements early also provides you with an opportunity to win cash rewards. There will be four random drawings with dozens of $500 rewards. The drawings will be held June 1, Aug. 1, Oct. 1, and Dec. 15. There are requirements that must be satisfied to participate in each drawing. You can earn an additional chance in each drawing for every 100 points you accumulate beyond the specific requirements for that drawing. All points you earn will carry over to future drawings.

Don’t miss out on your chance to be entered into the first drawing on Monday, June 1. You could win one of 54 rewards of $500. The deadline to participate in the June 1 drawing is Friday, May 1. To qualify, by Friday, May 1, you must acknowledge the Wellness Pledge and complete the MyHealth Questionnaire, and complete a biometric screening.

What are you waiting for?

The 2010 Take a Healthy Step program officially launched on Monday, March 2, which means you can start earning points now, getting you closer to earning your 2010 MyHealth deductible credit.
