Building upon our experiences of dignity and respect

Were you unable to attend one of the center’s on-site employee information exhibits?

Visit the Center for Inclusion in Health Care Infonet site and click on the Virtual Road Show link on the Resources page to view the presentation explaining the center’s purpose, goals, challenges, and services.

Launched in October 2008, UPMC’s Center for Inclusion in Health Care focuses on creating an inclusive workplace that encourages collaboration, fosters employee engagement, and promotes healthy living.

Since January, employee information exhibits have been held at more than 35 UPMC locations to provide staff with a better understanding of the center’s services, give them the opportunity to attend leadership presentations, and provide feedback regarding the center’s efforts through participation in focus groups. In addition, these “road shows” promote the dignity and respect pledge created to highlight the importance of treating our colleagues, patients, community members, and business partners with dignity and respect. To date, more than 6,000 employees have taken the pledge.

Recognize your peers with an e-card

In response to feedback received at numerous road shows, there is now a way for you to take an active role in supporting inclusion through the center’s e-card recognition program. Visit the Center for Inclusion in Health Care Infonet site, and click on Inclusion e-Cards in the right-hand column. Select from the six card options — two of which highlight inclusion — and send a personalized message to a colleague. You also can have a copy sent to the recipient’s manager for added recognition. Join in the effort to recognize those who demonstrate acts of dignity and respect and who champion workplace inclusion.
