Dec. 4, 2009 Health Plan expands More Energy Day Pass programUPMC Health Plan is expanding the UPMC More Energy Day Pass program to 16 participating fitness centers, up from the previous 11. The More Energy Day Pass provides discounted introductory memberships to the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh, and the Rivers Club. “This day pass concept was well accepted in the fall,” says Kim Jacobs, executive director, Health Promotion Account Management at UPMC Health Plan. “We couldn’t be more excited about expanding the program. We hope staff members will use the day pass as a transition to longer-term memberships.” The participating fitness centers offer a wide variety of exercise classes, cardio and weight lifting equipment, pools, locker room facilities, and much more. In a recent survey on exercise programs, a high percentage of UPMC staff members indicated they were interested in taking advantage of the More Energy Day Pass program. “The end goal is to encourage staff members to exercise, gain the many benefits from being fit, and enjoy the highest level of health possible,” Mr. Jacobs says. “A bonus is that they receive 75 Take a Healthy Step points to help reduce their UPMC Health Plan deductibles.” More Energy Day Pass registration runs through Tuesday, Dec. 29. The program starts in early January. Staff members can register and purchase a card by logging in to My HUB. Click on the Human Resources tab and select the MyHealth/MyFlex Advantage link, then select the “See all the Healthy Steps” button. Fees will be deducted automatically from a participant’s paycheck.
