UPMC’s Haitian relief efforts continue
This morning, 53 orphans from earthquake-ravaged Haiti arrived in Pittsburgh as part of a successful rescue effort coordinated by UPMC.

A U.S. Air Force flight took the children to a military base in Florida, and they arrived in Pittsburgh around 9:30 a.m. The children were accompanied by one of their caretakers, Ali McMutrie, who is a Pittsburgh native; a contingent of UPMC physicians and other medical personnel; Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell; and Rep. Jason Altmire.

The children are receiving evaluations and treatment at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
