This year, in spite of the difficult economic situation we all are facing, UPMC staff came together to help those who need it most. Nearly $1.2 million was donated by staff to United Way agencies and services that help children, families, and seniors; provide food and shelter; prevent youth violence; and motivate children to succeed. Thank you for giving back and living united. Nearly 600 UPMC staff members have submitted ideas for cost savings to help trim costs without sacrificing the quality care our patients expect from UPMC. Your suggestions are being sent to your business unit leaders and to operational leaders within Corporate Services. Watch Infonet for updates about the cost savings initiative and how your suggestions may be implemented. If
you have more ideas, please submit
them today. Riskmaster is UPMC’s preferred method for physicians and staff to report serious patient incidents and events. Riskmaster can be accessed from the A to Z Listing on Infonet (select “I” and the link for “Incident reporting, nonemployee”) or directly at http://1upmc-rmweb/webforms. User IDs and passwords for UPMC hospitals and facilities are listed in the Riskmaster User Guide. UPMC eSample Center goes into full effect next week. Beginning Wednesday, April 1, pharmaceutical companies no longer will be permitted by UPMC to provide medication samples to physicians and clinics unless the company has enrolled in the UPMC eSample Center. Also,
as of April 1, the only permitted method for physicians' offices and
practices to receive samples will be through the web-based UPMC eSample
Center. Physicians may enroll in the UPMC eSample Center on Infonet. Join UPMC at the March of Dimes March for Babies walk on Saturday, May 9, at 9 a.m. at the North Shore Park.
