Time is running out to use your FSAs and PTO Buy hours

Flexible spending accounts
As the end of the year draws closer, now is the time to use the remaining funds in your 2009 health care and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). Remember, the IRS considers these “use it or lose it” accounts. Contributions to your FSA do not carry forward from one plan year to the next. Therefore, any unused balance will be forfeited.

The deadline to use your remaining 2009 balance for dependent care FSAs is Thursday, Dec. 31. The deadline for health care FSAs is Monday, March 15, 2010. It is important to incur services or purchase eligible expenses prior to the deadlines to take full advantage of your FSA.

All eligible 2009 FSA expense claims should be submitted to UPMC Health Plan by April 30, 2010, for reimbursement from your account. UPMC Health Plan FSA claim forms are available in the Benefits section of the Forms page on Infonet.

It’s easier than ever to access your FSA through single sign-on through My HUB.

If you have any questions, call UPMC DirectLink at 1-800-994-2752, option 2.

Use 2009 PTO Buy hours by Dec. 19
Any PTO Buy hours that you purchased for 2009 must be used by Saturday, Dec. 19. PTO hours are available for your use at the discretion of your supervisor and department’s schedule. Any unused PTO Buy hours remaining after Dec. 19 will be paid out in the final pay of the year (Dec. 24 if biweekly; Dec. 31 if monthly). To check your PTO Buy balance, log in to My HUB, click on the Human Resources tab, and select View/Update Payroll Information. Under Pay Information, click on PTO Bought Usage.
