ISD Alert: Plan ahead for Jan. 23 Data Center outage

Forbes Tower Data Center Outage

Between midnight and 6 a.m. Sunday, January 23, the UPMC Data Center will undergo a scheduled outage that will affect network access to systems based out of the Forbes Tower Data Center.

When will the outage occur?

Date of event: Sunday, Jan. 23, from midnight to 6 a.m.
Duration of event or change: six hours

Why is this change being made?

This planned outage will allow the completion of the move of the current network infrastructure to the Nexus platform, an improved infrastructure that will allow for greater capacity and network capabilities in the future.

What is the impact to systems in the data center(s) and hospitals, and for clinical/non-clinical staff?

During this time, the following systems that are located in the Forbes Tower Data Center will be impacted.

  • Cerner, SunQuest, Epic, HealthTrak, and PeopleSoft are some of the applications that will not be available during this event.
  • Cerner Core Zone and Cerner Children’s Zone will all be available in Read-Only mode for referencing patient data to all users. Access will be provided through normal methods.
  • Stentor/iSite, Psych Consult (WPIC), MPAC, EMPI/Initiate, and Single Sign On will be available for use during the outage.
