Your reward is even greater when you satisfy your 2010 MyHealth requirements by Nov. 13, 2009.

Employees who have participated in MyHealth have been rewarded with lower deductibles and healthier lifestyles. Effective Jan. 1, 2010, the medical plan options will offer an even higher deductible credit for those employees who complete the MyHealth requirements. The 2010 credit will be $500 for individual and $1,000 for family coverage.

It is more important than ever to make sure you have satisfied all of your requirements for the 2010 MyHealth deductible credit. Simply log in to My HUB, click on the Human Resources tab, then select MyHealth/MyFlex Advantage. From here you will enter your personalized MyHealth Online, where you can see if you have met all of your requirements.

Health care workers are at high risk for contracting seasonal influenza and spreading it to patients, family members, and co-workers. All UPMC physicians and staff members are strongly encouraged to receive free seasonal flu vaccine at any of the locations listed on Infonet. Bring your UPMC employee identification number (found on your UPMC pay advice) and UPMC photo identification to the flu vaccine clinic.

A step in the right direction
A flu shot also entitles UPMC physicians and staff to 100 MyHealth Take a Healthy Step points. UPMC Health Plan members whose membership began on or before June 1, 2009, must meet the following requirements to receive their 2010 MyHealth deductible credit:

  • Acknowledge the Wellness Pledge and complete or update the MyHealth Questionnaire (required step worth 100 points).
  • Complete a biometric screening between Sept. 1, 2004, and Nov. 13, 2009 (required step worth 100 points).
  • Earn at least 100 points by taking one or more additional Healthy Steps, such as a seasonal flu shot.

Visit the Flu site on Infonet frequently for updates related to both seasonal and H1N1 flu.

Because there are some limitations to the UPMC technical infrastructure, all staff should be mindful of how they use UPMC’s remote network capabilities during the G-20 Summit. Some UPMC staff members in affected locations, such as downtown, are making contingency plans to work from remote locations and may need greater access to web-based Outlook or Connect@UPMC.

If your primary need for connectivity is to access your e-mail, first use your BlackBerry or other mobile device that is configured to connect to UPMC’s e-mail system. If you use Connect@UPMC or web-based e-mail, plan ahead in order to limit the time you spend using these services.

For more information and guidelines on using UPMC’s remote network capabilities during the G-20 Summit, visit the G-20 site on Infonet.

Some National City branches switched to First Niagara beginning Sept. 4. If your branch is one of those that changed to First Niagara, this switch also will cause many of your account and routing numbers to change. To avoid a disruption in your payroll direct deposits, you will need to log in to My HUB and update your bank accounts. In the Human Resources tab, under My Payroll, click My Bank accounts and Edit. Enter your new account number by Friday, Sept. 11.

The next time you are purchasing a product, think about the impact it will have on the environment. UPMC strives to minimize waste in its operations, and one way to do so is through environmentally preferred purchasing — the practice of considering and selecting products that are environmentally sustainable and help minimize waste.

The durability, packaging, and disposal methods of a product directly affect the volume of waste it produces. When making a purchase, be proactive and think about these characteristics.

To learn more about environmentally preferred purchasing, visit the Environmental Initiatives site on Infonet or view UPMC’s systemwide policy, HS-MM0300, Guidelines for Purchasing.
